As a graduate of Stanford Law School, Susan began her legal career under the Honorable Judith N. Keep. Following her clerkship at the U.S. District Court for the Southern District Court of California, she worked as a Skadden Fellow with a focus on civil rights. Susan then continued to grow her legal experience as a litigation associate for Heller, Ehrman, White and McAuliffe, where she handled complex business litigation.
Susan later worked as the Director of Investigations during the landmark settlements for Denny’s race discrimination case, in which she assembled and supervised a team of investigators that conducted investigations in 49 states. She also served as an expert to the Civil Rights Division of the U.S. Department of Justice, monitoring discrimination investigations at another major restaurant chain. The Los Angeles County Board of Supervisors appointed her to the County Equity Oversight Panel, which reviews and evaluates workplace investigations conducted countrywide.
In 2006, Susan began her private practice in Pasadena, providing investigation services to clients throughout Southern California. She also works as an adjunct professor at Loyola Law School, as well as an editor for the AWI Journal.
Relevant Experience
Working in both the public and private sectors, Susan has extensive experience conducting investigations involving harassment, discrimination, and retaliation. In addition, Susan investigates cases under both the Peace Officers Bill of Rights and the Firefighters Bill of Rights.
Along with providing a thorough report of findings for her clients, her past work has also included:
- Designing investigation procedures
- Assessing discrimination investigations
- Proposing resolutions
Susan is familiar with conducting investigations in unionized workplaces. Along with government entities, she has worked with universities, community college, and K-12 school districts.
